Volume VII
Alan Hollinghurst
The Line of Beauty
Volume VII of the Booker Prize First Chapter Series© showcases the opening chapter of Alan Hollinghurst's The Line of Beauty, winner of the 2004 Booker Prize. This novel has received huge acclaim worldwide for its portrayal of Thatcher's London through the eyes of a naïve young Oxford graduate.

"A winning novel that is exciting, brilliantly written and gets deep under the skin of the Thatcherite 80s. The search for love, sex and beauty is rarely this exquisitely done."
This volume combines explores the physical and political landscape of 1980s' London through the eyes of some of the most talented artists working today. Both art and text explore themes of class war, youth, and the quest for beauty, pleasure and identity. Brought together, these highly individual works reveal thought-provoking contrasts and unexpected sympathies - a startling candour, an uncompromising humour and a shared, deeply tragic, subtext.
Each numbered book is individually signed by the author and features a signed and numbered print by globally renowned artists, Turner Prize winning duo Gilbert & George, whose work recently formed the subject of the major exhibition at the Tate.
